Disney's Magic Kingdom: Let's Break it Down!

The most magical Disney park of them all! The Magic Kingdom park can be so exciting as it has some of the most iconic rides in Disney World, and one could argue the largest selection of rides. But with all of that selection can come a lot of confusion as well. In this post we will be breaking the Magic Kingdom down land by land and I will be giving you a high level view of what the rides, attractions, and shows in each world are so you can decide where you want to hit first during the time of your visit. Let's get into it!

Okay, let's start with the basics! There are 6 different lands in Magic Kingdom for you to explore. They are as follows:

  • Mainstreet USA

  • AdventureLand

  • FronteirLand

  • Liberty Square

  • FantasyLand

  • TomorrowLand

Below is a map showing you the general location of each of these lands in the park.

Now let's get into the nitty gritty, what does each of these lands offer? Below I will go over every ride, and attraction in each of the lands so you can get a sense of which would be best for you and your travel companions on your visit!

MAINSTREET USA

Attractions

  • No attractions, although parades do come through here and there is the occasional piano player in front of Casey's Corner Restaurant

Rides:

  • There are no rides on main street. This is just the entrance to the park and it has shops and dining experiences.

Shows:

  • While there are no set attractions that offer shows, the parades do come through mainstreet everyday at specified times.

  • Also main street is right in front of Cinderella's castle which often has shows throughout the day as well.

ADVENTURELAND

Attractions:

  • Swiss Family Treehouse

- This is a walkthrough attraction that allows you to climb through a treehouse that tells the story of the Swiss family, stranded on an island and living out of a tree. It is an underrated attraction in my opinion. It is appropriate for all ages but you should be aware that there are some small, steep steps and there are some incline moments, so those who have difficulty walking may struggle.

Rides:

  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

- This is a simple ride in the heart of Adventureland. Take a ride on Aladdin's magic carpet as you soar through the air. This is a flying ride that gently goes in circles. Appropriate for most ages. A gentle, relaxing ride.

  • Jungle Cruise

- This is a Disney classic. Take a calm boat ride through the jungle as you experience all sorts of animals and fun jokes from your skipper. This ride is appropriate for all ages and is wheelchair accessible.

  • Pirates of the Caribbean

- Another classic, this is another boat ride but this one takes you through the pirate town of Tortuga. This ride is dark, contains loud noises, and has a slight drop so it may be slightly scary for younger riders.

Shows:

  • Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room

- This is a fun show full of singing birds that is sure to enchant and delight the entire family.

FRONTIERLAND

Rides:

  • Splash Mountain

- This is a fun ride that takes you on a relaxing log flume ride through a bear and rabbit's adventure. That is until you reach the 50 foot drop into the Briar Patch! Has a height requirement so smaller riders may not be able to ride.

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

- This is an adventurous ride through the old west. This is a fast roller coaster that has a lot of twist and turns. While it may be exciting for older children, it may be too intense for younger ones.

Shows:

  • Country Bear Jamboree

- This is a humorous show where you watch a family of country bears perform a nice musical. Perfect for all ages.

LIBERTY SQUARE

Attractions:

  • Liberty Square Riverboat

- This is a large boat that takes you on a slow cruise around the river in the Magic Kingdom. Perfect for all ages and a great way to relax and take a break from the tons of walking you will be doing in this park.

Rides:

  • Haunted Mansion

- Another Disneyworld classic. This ride is a mix of walkthrough and sit down. Board your doom buggie and make your way through this Haunted Mansion full of ghost hosts! It is dark and may contain some imagery that could be frightening to small children.

Shows:

  • The Hall of Presidents

- Learn all about the Presidents of the United States of America with this neat presentation featuring animatronics. Great way to learn some fun facts and escape into some air conditioning for awhile.

  • Peter Pan's Flight

- One of the most popular rides in the Magic Kingdom. Board a flying ship and follow Peter Pan through all of his adventures.

  • Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid

- Learn the story of Ariel as you ride in a giant seashell through some cute animatronics. A favorite of the younger kiddos, this ride is relaxing and enjoyable.

  • The Barnstormer

- This is a smaller rollercoaster for children. It does feature some small drops. Strap in and join Goofy for one heck of a ride.

  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant

- Similar to Aladdin's flying carpets, however now you are flying with Dumbo. Enjoy a calming ride in the sky on the back of Dumbo.
