Azulik SFER IK

Tulum is a place that holds many incredible things but one of the things that is arguably most incredible in Tulum is the Azulik SFER IK museum. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to witness the perfect blend of modernity with nature? This museum does just that. Be prepared to be amazed. It is the perfect blend of modern architecture with nature's beauty. It is like stepping into Wonderland, jungle vibes version, and it is definitely a place that should be on your must see list when visiting Tulum.

In this post we are going to go over everything there is to know about Azulik. Including where it is located, how to get there, how much it costs, what you can do there, and some fun tips to make your trip there the best it can be. So without further ado let's get into it!

LOCATION:

Azulik SFER IK is a museum located in Tulum. More specifically it can be found on Tulum Beach Road. Below I show you where it is on a map along with the exact address of it.

Address: Carretera Tulum-Punta Allen KM 5, Zona Hotelera, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

Map:

For further reference, here is a street view of what you will be looking for when driving by.

(disclaimer: this is not my photo, this photo was taken by SFER IK themselves and I found it by selecting see photos from the results bar when the site was Googled)

When searching for it on a map make sure you are looking at Azulik museum. As you can see there is also an Azulik resort. That appears to be stunning as well and being a guest gets you access to so many incredible things but be fair warned, staying at Azulik is not cheap.

ACCESSIBILITY:

Now that you know where the museum is you may be wondering exactly how to get there and access it. You have a couple options for that.

  • WALK

If you are staying close by in one of the hotels on Tulum Beach Road you do have the option of walking there. But I will warn you, the road is longer than it looks, there are no sidewalks ,and it is HOT .Also, drivers are reckless, so walk at your own risk.

  • TAXI

You could call a taxi and tell them you want to go here and have them drop you off, but then you would also need to set up your pick up ride after you finished exploring.

  • DRIVE

Or if you have rented a car you could drive yourself here. Please note that the museum does not have parking for itself but there are various paid parking lots along the street, all of which are marked with signs. They are all day parking so you can leave your vehicle there while you enjoy the museum.

HOURS OF OPERATION:

Azulik SFER IK is open seven days a week from 10AM- 10PM.

Although I do recommend checking their website to double check just in case there is an event or special reason that they might be closed for that day.

I do recommend getting there as early as possible. When we went we arrived at 9:30AM and made a line at the front door. We were the first ones in line which was a huge benefit to us because then we got videos entering the museum with no one's back in it. We also got to select where we wanted to go in the museum first.

We were not the only people in line early by the way. I would say by 9:50AM there were a good 35 people in line, so take advantage of being their early.

COST:

When we visited the museum it cost us $10 US Dollars to get in. We did purchase our tickets online through their website, which I have provided the link to here: https://www.sferik.art/visit

It is cheaper to buy your tickets online. A friend of mine waited to purchase hers at the front door of the museum and it cost her $20.00 US dollars. So buying online saves you some money and it guarantees you a spot which is nice.

Please be aware that prices do fluctuate so what you see online today may not completely resemble the prices when we went. I believe ticket prices now are between $12 and $12.50 , but let me tell you it is worth it.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This place is truly like nothing I have ever experienced before. Imagine walking into a sort of fairy garden, where architecture and nature combine. The first thing you will be asked to do is remove your shoes. That's right no shoes allowed inside the museum. You just place them at the front entrance while you are in exploring. So that is one less thing you have to think about when planning an outfit for this activity. Speaking of that, I would suggest something light and airy because when we went there was no air conditioning. So it got warm in there quite quickly. They do have fans throughout the museum to keep air flow moving. In addition, this is a pro tip if you're someone who goes to cool places for your Instagram, I would suggest wearing a color that pops like red or yellow. This will be a fun color that stands out in the museum because everything in the museum is a shade of white, brown, or green.

Speaking of the gram...there is no professional photography allowed inside the museum. That is not unless you want to pay the $100.00 fee to use your camera. Professional photography was described to us as cameras, selfie sticks, tripods, go pros and things of that nature. Cell phone use for photos and videos is allowed free of charge. You are going to want to take photos of this place, it is a photographer's dream. Full of shapes, and light it is a place you could play for hours.

When it comes to photos you want to get them with the least amount of people in them as you can, for that we went upstairs first. We chose to do that because then everyone was behind us and we could get our shots without people in the background. Upstairs is a bit narrower because it is a beautiful woven treepath, so it can be harder to maneuver when there are more people. Also, there is a back room behind the bathrooms that a lot of people forget to check out so be sure to go there, it is beautiful!

One thing that we noticed is that the majority of the people who came to the museum did not stay long. It is not the largest of spaces, and they walked around once and felt that they had seen "everything" and left. Do not make the same mistake. This place is truly incredible and the longer you stay the more you notice. Also, if you stay awhile you will notice the crowd ebbs and flows so you will have more chances to get your perfect shots without a ton of people in the background. Also, just take some time to soak it all in, enjoy where you are. There is magic to this place. Grab one of the pillows on the floor, sit back, and relax...you are in a jungle paradise.
